I guess I'm still unclear on what Miller defenders are mad about here. We have an investigation (by a tenacious guy with no political ties, as I understand) that leads to Miller as having information not about a crime, but information which is, in fact, the crime itself.
Journalists have no *right* to refuse to identify sources under the scrutiny of subpoena - they just pride themselves on their selfless commitment to protecting their sources. It's their choice and the holy ideal is that they'll go to jail rather than give up a source. So Cooper chickened out and Miller went to jail. Good for her. It's what she, along with many other reporters profuse to be willing to do as part of the journalistic machismo.
