Can You Imagine?
Can you imagine what the right would be saying if Al Gore or Bill Clinton had accidentally shot a hunting partner?
Can you imagine?
There'd already be conspiracy-theory books out on it. Regnery would open a new publishing wing just to deal with it.
Rush Limbaugh would claim that Bill was just "covering for Hillary". The Weekly Standard would dig up a Republican hack from Arkansas to say that Hillary routinely used to shoot people and that Bill got rid of the bodies. The National Review and Wall Street Journal would ponder a Chinese connection. Pat Roberts would call it a secret lesbian murder ritual, and Bill O'Reilly would claim the REAL victim was Santa Claus.
And CNN and the New York Times would credibly cover every word of this. Though, years later, the Times would print an apology in which they claimed that their error had been a "rush to print"--and, really, the fault of the whole media system.

Its kind of amazing isn't? The so called left leaning media seems to spend a lot of time sucking up to the wing nuts. I can't figure out why anyone even listens to Pat Robertson, O'Reilly, Rush, and the rest they seems to be the obvious victims of an alien abduction.
Frankly, I am getting pretty tired of the same theme that seems to work on the voters: We are protecting you from Terrorism!!!! Put the Dems in power and Osama will kill your childeren, Rape your wives and marry your mothers. It worked in 2004 even with the obvious incompetence of our pursuit in the war of terrorism laid bare before the electorate. Sigh.
It would be really nice to see the voters wake up for the elections this year and shift the balance of power to the dems again. At least that way there could be an effective foil against some of the truly misguided policies of this administration.

a few nights ago, every local news show out here (L.A.) was leading with the "terrorist plan to fly plane into tall building foiled(in 2002)" story.
i was beyond exasperated. this had already been news, the exact same story- a little over a year ago. bush obviously rolled it out cause his state of the union provided no bump (and we know dubya loves him a bump), so rove decided it was fear time again.
flipping around later that night, i came across the same coverage on ABC, stormed into the bedroom, and complained to my wife that it was getting so ridiculous... why wouldn't anyone report the fact that this was rehashed news, and that rove had just given a pep talk about playing the fear card again?!?!?
walked back into the living room, and was (more than) pleasantly surprised to find that i was wrong. the story was about it being old news, and the administrations reliance on keeping america afraid. a splash of hope in a sea of despair...
and yeah, if clinton had shot someone on a hunting trip, rush, bill, and the others would be losing their fucking minds over it. instead, we'll hear them take the high road and talk about how insensitive the liberals making fun of this are. yay!
